I very much enjoyed this book.It's a perfect combination of Shakespeare's use of language and writing style and the happenings of "Revenge of the Sith".Doescher stayed very close to the movie, which was great in my opinion, so you were able to recognize the actual lines the characters said in the film. There are a lot of hidden references too, some made me laugh out loud! It is fantastic how Doescher not only maintained Shakespeare's writing style, but also his great puns, his humour and his wit.I quite enjoyed the drawings as well! The characters were even given period clothing!This is a must-read for every Star Wars and Shakespeare fan alike!
This next part, "William Shakespeare's Tragedy of the Sith's Revenge" is more of the same as the previous volumes, but in this case that's good. In this version it is not so clear whether Darth Plagueis really existed or not, because his story is played in a theater play by Anakin and Palpatine. I never thought in the past whether Palpatine could have made him up. I assumed he was real and Palpatine his apprentice, and my theory is actually that, as revenge for Palpatine killing him, Plagueis called Anakin to destroy Palpatine, but apparently that doesn't fit the official Star Wars timeline of the events.
LOVE every word Ian Doescher writes! My 9th grade daughter recently proclaimed to her English class that she "loves iambic pentameter" because of Mr. Doescher's William Shakespear's Star Wars books. Can't recommend these highly enough!
This entire series is absolutely fantastic. It is a perfect molding of Shakespeare and everyone's favorite space opera. My nephews love when i read these to them. They have the added benefit of even making jar jar bearable. I highly highly recommend this entire series to any star wars fan who also enjoys the English language in its classic form.
Let's face it, if you're buying or reading this book, you already know the story and characters. It's the reformat that makes it awesome. Does it fix the problems from the original film? No, but it does flesh out the characters more as Doescher has to find ways to resolve problems with translating a film to a stage play. This whole series of books is a total hoot!
Fiance absolutely loves these book series. Perfect gift for those nerds who practically have every gadget and fan merchandise for Star Wars. It's an unusual approach, so he was very surprised when I gave them to him because they are unlike anything else he has. He enjoys finding the quotes and scenes in the books that pertain to the memes that have been created.
Very entertaining. Teenager loves it!
